This October, BANG Young Leaders aren’t just attending a community event — they’re helping to plan and deliver one.
The Great Giveaway gives young people the opportunity to build leadership, enterprise, and professional skills through real responsibility.
Working as part of the event, BANG Young Leaders are helping to plan, promote and deliver an auction and marketplace for quality pre-loved items that might otherwise remain unused or go to waste.
It’s practical experience with a purpose: young people learning how to organise, communicate, sell, and work as a team while generating income and contributing to a more sustainable community.
This is what BANG Youth Leadership is about — young people leading, not just being led.

THE GREAT GIVEAWAY

The Great Giveaway brings young people, residents and local partners together for an afternoon of sharing, repairing, reusing and giving.

Here’s what’s happening:

• Repair Café — bring broken or worn items and get them repaired for free, with 30-minute repair slots from 1pm to 4.30pm.
• Clothing & Furniture Giveaway — find quality pre-loved clothing and furniture, taking what you need and giving what you can.
• School Uniform Swap — bring outgrown school uniform and swap it for the right size.
• Stalls, activities and more — with plenty happening across the afternoon.

Everything works on a pay-what-you-choose basis: take what you need and give what you can.

HAVE SOMETHING TO GIVE?

Having a clear-out? Bring along school uniform, books, clothing, furniture or other good-quality items that could find a new home. By reusing and redistributing what we already have, we can reduce waste while making useful items more accessible within the community.

For our Young Leaders, it’s more than an event. It’s a chance to take responsibility, contribute to their community, and develop skills through doing real work.
